The warm weather brings with it a new season in the world of  fashion. Colours get brighter and fabrics get lighter. Pack away your classic black and whites, its time to try out something fresh – pastels!

Lemon lime, lime, aquafresh, emerald olive, electric blue, cerulean, milk caramel, velvety peach, pale pink, powdery mint, banana, guava, lavender and baby blue, pink…these are just some of the interesiting pastels that you must have in your wardrobe this summer. The best thing about these colours? You can wear them from day to night whether it be at work, out on the town or taking it easy during the weekend. Pastels exude all things summer, fresh and trendy. Soft, romantic and ethereal, these candy shades are the summer obsession for those who want to spruce their looks with some innocent and romantic vibe, breaking the monotony of blacks and diminishing all the blues. Incorporating pastels to your wardrobes may seem a little tricky, so here’s a guide to help.

Color Blocking
Yes, color blocking. One of the most alluring ways to nail the pastel trend is to pastel color-blocking. Combine a pastel pink with pale lemon, blue with mint green, creamy orange with purple, and you’ll have mastered the art of wearing pastels the best way. It’s also fun to wear pastels with brighter shades. In this case too, pay attention to the color wheel.

Lace it up
After so many eye-catching prints and bold colors, pastels offer a refreshing sight. Make your pastel dress, top or skirt a tad more delicate and feminine by adding some lace detail. A casual dress for a carefree stroll around the city, coming in delicate pale green, beige and blue colors with a minimum decoration, feature lovely lace or chiffon fabrics will make the look so ethereal and trendy.

Go Minimalist
Pastels are best not overdone. If you’re not into the lace or color blocking trend, this is for you. Armine Karapetyan, a fashion blogger, suggests that one should accessorize a pastel with pieces in black, white or other neutral tones. Combine pastel jeans with a white and black top, complementing the look with dark colored platform sandals. No matter how many pastel shades to match with a black piece, black is always going to dominate, creating modern and polished looks – picture a black shirt with a baby blue pastel suit for example.  Since pastel colors may look a bit boring and dramatic with black pieces, you can always replace black with soft gray or beige tones. Beige and coffee shades will help balance the girly nature of pastels. As for white, it only enhances the softness and femininity of pastel hues, at the same time managing to balance things out for more harmonious looks. Pastel colors with white make the go-to summer looks.

Pastel Suits
Now these are just hot! Tis the season of outdoor weddings and events and a glorious time to wear pastel. Don your baby blue or pink pastel suit with a crisp white shirt and be sure to turn heads at any event. Give your chinos a break and rock some pastel.
Dare to be bold, trendy and fun this summer.

Keep it simple. Keep it stylish.
