Loose-fitting, breezy and trendy, the tunic is a must-have this summer as the temperatures continue to rise. The tunic style dates backs to ancient times where long tunic shirts were worn by Romans and Greeks, male and female. Easy to wear, the knee-length garments we worn over pants and other traditional pieces of clothing. From then the tunic has been transformed into a fairly short garment and repurposed into a wardrobe staple and a 2016 summer trend. Tunics are a very versatile article of clothing and can be worn with a number of bottoms to achieve a variety of looks. One should keep in mind the occasion, location and the weather when wearing the tunic. A single tunic can take a woman from a casual day shopping, to a day at the office, to a dinner out with friends depending on how she chooses to accessorize the tunic. Leggings and skinny jeans with a pair of boots will go with virtually any tunic and should be a staple of a woman's wardrobe. From there she can play around with her style and find a style of dressing a tunic that looks right for her. There is no one right way of styling a tunic, but rather many different ways to style them that are suitable for different occasions. Every woman should feel encouraged to try different combinations of tunic, bottom, shoes, belts, and jewellery until they find combinations that suit their lifestyle needs.

Since tunics come in a variety of styles, cuts and materials, it makes them suitable for all sorts of body types. It is a thinking woman's trend, for women who want a look that says sophisticated but not slave to the trends. Today, the focus is on the tunic dress, which is an easy solution for summer dressing. It’s great for throwing on over your summer swimwear but can also double as a stylish city outfit. There are a range of tunic dresses on offer this season, so you’re bound to find a version that suits your style. Check out these easy to wear tunic dresses:

Denim Tunic
The obsession with denim is still raging. A denim version of a tunic dress is perfect for creating a casual, off-duty look. Denim dresses are really having a moment this season and this style of dress is perfect for throwing on and walking out the door in. Team it with ballet flats and a satchel bag for a casual yet polished look.

Black Tunic Dress
You can’t go wrong with a little black dress. Pick one up in a tunic style this season for an easy to wear option. Keep it simple during the day with a floppy hat and leather sandals or dress it up at night with statement jewels and wedge shoes.

Lace Embellished Tunic Dress
If you prefer your dresses with a vintage twist, then try a lace embellished tunic. It would look great dressed up with chandelier earrings and heeled pumps for a glam yet fun night out with the bae.

A Line Tunic
If you like bit more length in your dresses, try a longer tunic. Sheer, lightweight styles will still keep you cool in the summer months and still look stylish. Wear them with bejewelled sandals and printed headscarves for a vacation inspired look.

Accesorize
Jewellery, belts, handbags, and shoes will complete the look of a tunic. Of these four, handbags are the most versatile choice. A mismatched handbag will not look as out of place as a poorly selected pair of shoes or piece of jewellery. If you don’t have a handbag to specifically match the tunic dress, just play it safe with one of a neutral colour that is seasonally appropriate.
